CBC news is now reporting the condition of the 2 soldiers apparently attended to by Paul during the incident. The headline reads “Medic emerges as heroic figure in Afghan convoy tragedy” - and while it may seem heroic - it’s not. It’s Paul. Doing his job - no more or less… As a Soldier - I respect what Paul does - and why he does it. He has a sense of duty, and humour about the job.
“Franklin’s wife, who spoke to him by telephone, says he saved his own life by applying a tourniquet to his severed left leg.
The CBC’s David Common says Franklin’s bravery is believed to have gone even further than that.
Military sources say he crawled to his wounded comrades and gave them first-aid that may have saved their lives, Common reports. ”
