Just headin to the office - but caught This Piece on the Globe and Mail. An excellent piece overall. In fact - the Globe was denied an interview because they wanted the family to ‘get back to them’ when it was convenient for the paper’s reporter… (needless to say - their request hit the bin.) Their coverage thus far though has been quite good.
Of note to me personally is this statement:
“Col. Bowes said he spoke briefly to MCpl. Franklin when he was hospitalized in Kandahar before being flown to a military hospital in Germany. “He remembers a little bit of the details,” Col. Bowes said. “But the action of that soldier doesn’t surprise me at all. He’s an outstanding individual, the kind you wish you could build an entire team around. The fact that he sought to take care of his own situation in order to help others doesn’t surprise me at all.”
Incidentally - and off-topic… why am I not at this conference?
