Gwen - your thoughts are more than reasonable. In this case - we're trying to send a message to our friends and families abroad in the service, as well as the vocal minority in this country (Canada) that we value the contribution of those soldiers, and honor their dedication to serve their country. In any case - I agree with your sentiment - we're supporting our troops, not pushing an agenda.

As a military veteran myself, I question the ideal of wearing red on friday. I am proud of all people who served to keep peace and freedom in the United States. For my part being a volunteer at a VA hospital, sending messages and care packages to the troops, helping out families who's loved one who are now serving and was served in the past, is the support that really is needed. Wearing Red to me seems to be for supporting The Silent Majority group. If you are wearing red, please think of the troops, and not an organization or angenda.

Yep, I'll try and remember to wear red on Fridays! Hope the general public is aware of what it means. We need to support our troops, be proud and not maudlin about this situation. These guys know when they join the military (no matter what branch of the service) that at some time there may be some risk of life involved. They are doing a valuable service to try and bring peace to this area It ain't easy!.
