But… I’m Pregnant…. [blink blink]

I told Greg that now I’m at 22 weeks that means only 18 weeks left and he’s starting to go into panic mode. We are trying to declutter like mad, and feel like we are getting absolutely nowhere. At my last Dr’s appointment went really well. I’m happy, healthy, and have only gained 1 pound in the last 4 weeks. Hopefully the gain will continue to be reasonable until the end. Then I can be a “Hot Mom” after. WooHoo!

In my line of work (registrars office at t a college), there are a lot of demanding or rude students and Parents, especially. The students make mistakes, and we get blamed for it. The parents want to know information about their kids, and we say no, according to the law, and we get yelled at.

My guilty pleasure now is talking about being pregnant and pushing out my belly, just a little. For some reason, people are afraid to upset a pregnant lady. They all of a sudden start being nice and gushy and saying things like “Oh, that’s ok.” Is it wrong of me to use my pregnancy to deflect jerks who are complaining because of their stupidity? I don’t think so, you use what you got, but maybe I’m wrong.

My co-workers use the pregnant card now too, if they need a “supervisor” they’ve gotten the preggy chick to come up from the back to deal with ornery customers. Again, wrong? Maybe, but it works.

Less than half way to go! I’m very happy to hear that you are happy and healthy.

Using pregnancy to diffuse a situation? It’s not an original idea - but usually on TV it’s to give a bad guy a conscience, not to keep angry clients at bay.
In fact, the implication that women “with child” are delicate little flowers that cannot cope wth normal day-to-day stress is almost a little insulting, don’t you think? Is the policy, “I am pregnant, therefore I cannot debate on why you have made decisions I cannot fix.” ? I say dish it out baby! Let those hormones rage and give them a taste of their own medicine - you don’t need to be a shrinking violet behind that belly.
