Chris got me thinking, and that’s often a painful thing to do at this time of year. Where did my summer go? I feel like I’ve missed it completely. Too few evenings chasing fish till dusk. No late night geocache raids, no nights spent behind a friends telescope, or the viewfinder of a camera.
Maya-watch came and went (she’s crated full time now with her sibling - it’s just easier.)
Canada Day - often marking the end of the first 3rd of summer - is a fading memory. Nights start earilier, and chillier. And then - there’s mom.
Lin is pregnant. Holy CRAP is she pregnant. We have at LEAST 5 weeks to go - and as much as 8. I don’t know what the HELL to do. The new room is almost finished… Everything is bought, and just needs ‘Installin’ now. This will be my week if it kills me.
FlyAngler.ca has been neglected too - and I’ve done no real writing. I must find my groove again, but since finding out about Ben - there’s been no rest… and no name! So I submit this to the masses, and the Mom (1 and 2)…
Benjamin Charles Gregory Scratchley
Is that pretentious? I hope so. Thoughts? And um…. Chris…. Dude… since you started this. Please ship me a box of strawberry popcicles or a reasonable hand-drawn facsimile.
Wow, two middle names — is that even allowed?!?
I’ve had it told to me time and again that awaiting the birth of one’s child is the greatest and most delightful disruption one has in their life. You are definitely providing evidence to this argument. It’s chaos, but a good kind of chaos.
Hey, The names are wonderful and fully endorsed by the two of us. Benjamin is a great name (ain’t at all sissiefied) and Charles (for Lin’s Dad) and Gregory (for Ben’s Dad) really works well and continues a family tradition of using the father’s name as the 3rd. Good choices. Greg, one must prepare oneself for parenthood. Parenting involves SELF SACRIFICE and putting the little guy first and foremostly at the top of both your lists from day 1 until he’s out of the house and on his way to whatever career he ends up doing. There is no book, no hard and fast rules. Common sense and affection both work well along with proper food, exercise, medical, educational etc, etc, etc. “You can do it, We can help”
And Benjie was his Name-O. I like it dude. Indeed, yer priorities should lay there… and when yer ready to take a parental sanity break… to look up at the heavans, or cast a line… I’ll be there fer yah bud.
