Calm before the…

Day 5 of 30: March 11, 2007

I noticed today the stark absence of vehicles in the driveway three houses counter-clockwise from us today.  That can mean only one thing.  Blane and Jodi have finally gotten 12.4 minutes of sustained peace and quiet with their brand new daughter Jaida.

I remember our first few days home.  We thought everything was under control – but as day three turned to day six, and six to ten, the real world settled around us.  It’s tiring work being a brand new mom and dad. They’ve got it under control I know – but those few moments where you have a clear line of sight between you, the bed, and the crib – those are magical.  Especially when someone little is sleeping peacefully.

I’m very pleased that things went well for them – and despite labouring – I’m sure Jodi is feeling good.  She had that ‘feel’ about her the week before baby.

Now…  If Blane can convince Jaida – perhaps he’ll get to play poker again.  She already cancelled one of his regular games. :)
