With all the changes to the energy sector in Alberta over the last 5-7 years, it’s nice to see that the old standby Pump Jack (a feature of my youth in Alberta) has not lost it’s place in the fast pace of the new millenium.

This pump - in a lovely field of 2 row wheat on the way to Ashland Dam Park. The sun overhead had the hoppers hoppin and Lance and I couldn’t hold ourselves back from the field.

I like the photograph because it speaks directly to this province and the shared focus of our provincial industry. Farming and Energy wrought from the same soil.

The image is a single frame RAW image shot on a Canon Rebel XTi and tonemapped using Photomatix.

    Great job, aren’t you glad we stopped. And… uhh… that hopper is quite dead now.. and smelly. Must go catch anudder one.
