I'd just like to point out that the Green Party is NOT a party of the political left (as you seem to imply near the end of this post). While they can be seen as "left-leaning" with regard to social and environmental issues, they're actually pretty far to the right when you look at their financial policies.

Greg and I had a brief interchange on Twitter re: this post. At his behest, I'm reposting the exchange here.

@gscratch Heh. Item 1) Cultural Mozaic, not melting pot -- that's USA. Also, were you channeling Heinlein? Compliment not a dig.....

@gscratch 2) yep, but consider the representation by population. Unfair Geographically. Reform needs to happen at other levels.

@gscratch 3) Good. May would have done well as a mainstream. Politics needs less politics to attract good candidates. Business is easier...

@gscratch 4) Heh. Funny. Can't happen in current system. It's adversarial. Government VS Off. Opposition. Not doing your job if you agree w/ opponent

Greg replied:
@bgrier Re (2) A regional party focus can drown out a national party with national focus. Bloq can stymie ndp with QC issues. knowhutimean?

My my brilliant reply:
@gscratch Ah, but isn't that incentive for ND to address QC issues locally, effectively within the national structure?

All that considered...awesome post Greg. You voiced your thoughts well.
