Oh Boy. Sometimes you see things on the internet – and you’ve just gotta open that can of worms.

Ok people. Yes. Planes leave contrails.  No, there weren’t any planes in 1900. Yes – there are more planes today than there were 10 years ago – so YES. There are MORE contrails now.

(Oh boy…)

And yes, hemp-wearing granola eaters… those contrails occasionally contain unburned fuel. (Shame on aircraft maintenance personnel for that. It’s not necessary.)

I do NOT however subscribe to your loonie “EVIL CHEMICAL TRAILS IN THE SKY!” theory. I doubt highly that these are created as anything but a byproduct of aircraft combustion, and certainly don’t believe they are a propagation vector for viruses (as some of you loons would submit.)

Jesus people.

I can agree that the addition of hydrocarbon emissions in middle and upper atmosphere is a concern.  The growing frequency of Noctilucent cloud in the summer around the equinox is evidence of that additional material in the upper atmosphere – however in the grand scheme of ‘concerns’ – it should rank very low.

Please people – be more concerned with coal ash polluting rivers and streams, oil and effluent spills affecting natural fish growth and spawning in our lakes, rivers, and seas. Be worried about heavy metals leeching into our soils from mining operations and a host of other ills. But save your might and will for real problems – not the ‘chemical death trails from big brother in the sky’.

One doesn’t have to look far to see the implications of our impact on the planet. But before you cry “Big Brother” take a deeper look… how big is your footprint? Your contribution to the problem is evident in your use of a computer – responsible for a portion of your ‘chem trails’ (looney) as well as the unneeded hydrocarbons, bi-phenyls, and a host of carcinogens now floating around Asia and South America as this is where many of our luxuries in Europe and North America are produced.

Hypocrisy is a very fine line. Before you cry conspiracy, perhaps you should cry consumer.

    Chemtrails sounds more like a crazy urban myth than fact to me.
    Haha – Would this be a bad time to bring up what else pilots drop from planes? I took a course with a bunchof pilots and they had all kinds of stories. I’m far more concerned (read: not concerned at all, but maybe a little grossed out.) about planes emptying their latrines over houses than seeing evidence of airplane exhaust and condensation in the sky.
    If you’ve ever heard of “blue snow” appearing on your rooftops, now you don’t need to ask where it came from. >.>

    You might want to dig into the subject a little more. I was recently quite surprised to learn that aviation fuel contains lead.

    So, those chemtrails are more than just water vapour. They very likely contain lead.

    It’s not just hemp wearing granola eaters that are concerned about things like this. And we used to think that the products coming from China were safe… until we started digging into it a little more and realized they weren’t.

    If you do a search on Google for “aviation fuel lead” you will find a lot of material on the subject. Those heavy metals aren’t just in the soil and water. They’re floating down from the sky.

    Lead wouldn’t be a surprise, as there is are a number of components in the fuel that are less than savoury. My primary concern is the assertion by the ‘chemtrails’ folks that these trails are ‘malicious’ attempts by the ‘man’ and contain toxins intended for the public…

    While we should always be concerned about malicious attempts to screw with us, I’m probably more concerned about complete negligence when it comes to our health.

    I’m sorry, but my trust in “authority” is about equal to my trust in organized crime. When you throw money into the mix, your health and public interest tend to fly out the window.

    Money is the common thread that runs through all these things, which is probably why lead is still added to fuel (I’m sure we can find alternatives). Remember when Canada banned MMT, or tried anyway?

    It had been banned in the US but Canada caved when the sleazebag Ethyl Corp threatened action under NAFTA. This toxic chemical is still in our gas and had been banned in the US, but is now in use. We don’t really know what the long term effects are.

    This is similar to the situation with BPA.

    It’s been know since the 1930s that this is an endocrine disruptor, something that mimic human hormones. Yet, it’s in widespread use in a huge variety of products. Again, we don’t really know what the effects are of longterm exposure, or at least, the studies probably haven’t been released. I find it hard to believe that nobody out there really knows what these chemicals do.

    What we don’t know is how they all intermingle within us. Wonder why cancer is so prevalent? Miscarriages? Heart disease? Autism?

    So when people come up with these apparent conspiracy theories about chemtrails, etc, it’s really not that far out of the realm of possibility. Who ever would’ve thought the government would allow such harmful chemicals to come into contact with our food?

    One of the basic tenets of investigative journalism: follow the money. Do that and you usually find the answers.

    So would I be surprised to find out that our government did mass experiments on its people through chemtrails? Nope. That would actually be less insane that some of the things I’ve heard about in the news lately.
