Another IED attack today - 5 injured - no deaths. The Ghan is gonna get worse before it gets better - but I (personally) think that Canadians are doing the right thing - bringing food, medicine, and a hope for peace to a country that hasn't seen it for a hundred years. Our new Prime Minister today gets a gold star - for the following remarks - published at CTV.ca:

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper pledged unwavering support to Canadian Forces in Afghanistan and issued a stern rebuke to Liberal MPs who have questioned Canada's role in the war-torn nation.

"You do not send men and women into harm's way on a dangerous mission with the support of our party and other Canadians, and then decide when they're over there that you're not sure you should have sent them.

That's not the way this government is going to behave,
" Harper said.

Last but not least - I'm redesigning the blog this weekend. Enough of buggy CSS... Arrgh.

So much going on... oh yeah.. check this... I get new camera in December, and look - a new version (the WP10) already. Surprise!

Friday February 24th, 2006

Sal got to go home yesterday... He (and his Girlfriend) posted this to his blog (at NOW OFFLINE ) I've posted there to pass along our best to he and his family.

February 23
I'm okay

I came home today because I presume they needed my bed and I was well enough. I am doing fine - little limp and have to wear a brace on my lower arm for now - but I'm cool. I get to be an 'out' patient in a short bit. Jeff and Paul are both good as they come along in their recovery, but they are both alive and doing well. I am very thankful for the quick response of my comrades and i couldn't be here today if they were not there.

So, I am home now and very thankful for it. Thank all of you for your support and your caring attitude - i couldn't have recovered so quickly without you. Keep your prayers going for Paul and Jeff as they stuggle through their own battles. Thank you once again.

-Will

Paul and Bailey are now kickin back with the Iraqui superbug bacteria - but whatever. It adds a few days to the whole process - but in the end we're all hopeful it's just a little speedbump. Soon bud - home soon.

On the flipside - check out my boy B's band - LongWayDown at myspace... good stuff if you're into the Hard Alt/Rock scene.

I must find a better way to record the moments of my life that I fear I'll lose if I don't make note of them - something quicker than this blog... I must look at this closer - for it amuses me. I suppose the effort required to blog it serves as a filter for the really crappy things I want to record. If it's too crappy - I won't waste blogging time.

Last night - my loving and adorable wife got mad at me because I don't talk about her enough online. So.. now that I'm talking about her - what should I talk about? I can be sweet, romantic, tawdry - or perhaps I'll just let the pictures do the talking... So... go here. I didn't say it was going to be exciting.

Thursday February 16th, 2006

Paul's a midget now - having had the right leg amputated. It was a tough decision for he and his family - but in the end - I think they are convinced that it was the right one. Now - after all is said and done - Paul can spend some time recovering and then when he's ready - beat me with his stump as he's promised to do for so long.

In other news... CBC is reporting that the hairy bugger from the Kieth's beer ads (yeah - the 'spilly talker' guy... has been charged with Child PORN possession!

The actor who portrays the irascible Scotsman in the Alexander Keith's beer ads has been charged with possessing child pornography.

Robert Norman Smith, 44, was charged with two counts of possessing child pornography and one count of making child pornography available over the internet.

Toronto police Det. Chris Neal said investigators found more than 1,000 images and videos on a computer.

Yep... the world is messed up dude.

FlyAngler.ca is my home on the web - most certainly... however, I must give some credit to TroutFlies.com - Though a commercial fly tier - the site has a fantastic assortment of patterns for viewing. Now - to disassemble and turn them into pattern demos. ;)

Monday February 13th, 2006

So - tomorrow is Valentines Day. That means I'll have to bring out my 'waka-chicka-porn-music' A-Game to the Romance table. Perhaps I'll spend some time 'studying my romance history. Perhaps I'll try to read some 'romantic' literature as say... training. (Somehow I don't think Penthouse 'Forum' counts...)

On another note - the Canadian Womens hockey team is kicking the SHIT out of the universe.

Monday Feburary 6th, 2006

WHEW! So - back from a whirlwind trip to Calgary and the Fly Fishing Exposition. We were invited down to promote FlyAngler.ca and Fly Fusion - and spent the weekend in the Tyers theater area, helping out Jack Dennis and hearing a few too many stories. I certainly know where I'm headed next time I go to the states... Jackson Hole baby...

IMGP0434.JPG

Jack is an extraordinarily generous gentleman - and I am glad to have had the opportunity to spend a little time with him at the show. Thanks to the library of books and DVD's I now have - hopefully I'll be able to step up my tying too.

On other fronts - the FFE was fantastic. Spent a bit of time with my publisher Chris Bird - and the crew at FlyFusion. Most enjoyable indeed. The Global interview went really well - as did the tying theatre presentation. That I'll do again next year. :)

Wednesday Feburary 1st, 2006

Wow. where did January go... So - things are still buzzin. Got the show materials ready for Friday - Between the hats, cards etc - we'll be doing fine down there - hopefully Chris will have enough table space for us...

IMGP0357  IMGP0358

In any case - we're all tired - but really looking forward to the show - and the possibilities that it brings forward. Tonight - I'm tying at the Northern Lights meeting 3 patterns over an hour (or much MUCH less - knowing me...)

Monday January 30, 2006

Don't ask. :) It's all good... FESA meeting tonight. Busy in ways I can't describe. I'd suggest this was a really bad thing - but it's not - it's mostly good in fact - but leaving me a little breathless... back to reality in 10 days.

Thursday January 26, 2006

Information relating to Paul is now in the January Archive to the right. I will not permit use of any of the content in there to be republished - so please don't ask. Almost everything I reported there came from CTV.ca, CBC.ca Citytv.ca cnn.com msnbc.com or fark.com anyway.

From this point on - I would appreciate it if all media requests are forwarded to the Edmonton Garrison, and base Public Relations officer. It is important that the information we share with the general public is consistent - and does not impede any of the military's activities. (I mean - Paul is a Soldier after all - not a civvie.)

On with the show!

Garner you're still huge, and for a laugh dude - go check this out. (yeah - It's disturbing.)
