The Web of Trust

In order to forge trust – you must know who I am / We are.

Disclosure Statement

No one pays us to write this blog or to say particular things in it. That includes all forms of compensation, including offering to shovel my walk or tell me that I look like I’ve lost some weight. I don’t run ads, no one pays me under the table, and I don’t sell t-shirts or coffee mugs. I don’t invest, so I’ve got nothing to tout except the companies and people I’m enthusiastic about.

How I make money

I make a living by being a Communications specialist, focused on customer facing marketing. I write outdoor articles, and in the past was a senior partner and editor in a Fly Fishing business. In many cases these things intermingle. Each contributes varies wildly over time.

Tech

I get a deal on hosting from a friend of mine, and I’d be happy to say nice things about him in my blog if he wanted me to because those things would be true. So far, he hasn’t asked. Thank god.  Luvya Pacres. :)

Business attachments

My Ventures

At this time, I have no business ventures outside my day job that may impact my daily spew here. Of course – I’m going to talk about and promote something I’m passionate about. At least you’ll know the passion is genuine.

Clients

I’m not going to list the companies I’m currently working for because that’s between them and me. I will disclose them if I talk about them on my blog. (None of them has ever asked me to mention them, btw.)

Boards and Club Affiliation

I have over time served or contributed to organizations or clubs that may or have received some note here:

  • Project Healing Waters (Fly-fishing support / rehabilitation for Injured Service men and Women)
  • Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers (Executive Member – FESA, Programs)
  • Fisheries Enhancement Society of Alberta (Secretary)

I am a member of the following organizations:

  • Trout Unlimited Canada (Edmonton Chapter)
  • Northern Lights Fly Tyers and Fishers
  • National Firearms Association (Canada)

I have associated myself with these groups because I like what the organizations are doing, believe in a core of their ideals, and the only way to support good work is to put in some of your own.

Free stuff

Go ahead and send me free copies of your stuff. Apple related, Hunting related, Photography related. If I like it – I’ll tell people. If I don’t like it – I’ll tell people. Isn’t honest evaluation great? I can and will promise however. that I will be honest with you and never write something that I don’t believe in because someone is paying me. I will always disclose any material benefit for a blog entry that I write.

NOTE: This disclaimer was stolen and modified from David Weinberger ( Go to Joho the Blog ) so I thought it prudent to say so in the disclaimer. Many of the witticiszmszebezessess are his. Like the word ‘Intermingly’. I like that word.
